Dr. Craig Brinkerhoff

Veterinarian / Owner

Dr. Craig Brinkerhoff was born in Kanab, Utah and raised on a cattle ranch on the Arizona Strip near St. George. He graduated from Dixie High and attended Dixie College. He served an LDS mission to Japan, then completed a BS in Biology and a Master's Degree in Toxicology at Utah State. He then received his DVM from Colorado State. He returned to St. George, married his wonderful wife Denise and are the parents of three children. They started and built Dixie Vet Clinic in 1989 and are currently expanding into their beautiful new facility. 


Dr. Rebecca Thode

Veterinarian

Dr. Rebecca Thode attended Dixie college and SUU before receiving her DVM degree from Washington State University. She has been serving the area as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Dixie Vet Clinic for over 20 years.


Dr. Colton Gust

Veterinarian

Dr. Colton Gust, a St. George Native, has called Dixie Vet Clinic home since before graduating from Dixie High School. He studied Biology at Dixie State University and then completed his doctorate in veterinary medicine from a joint program through Utah State University and Washington State University. He now has the opportunity to live his dream doing what he loves practicing medicine and caring for animals large and small. He and his wife Mindi enjoy everything outdoors with their two dogs and four horses. 


Dr. Clancy Mortensen

Veterinarian

Dr. Mortensen is from Fillmore, Utah. Growing up, he developed a great love for the outdoors. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and many other outdoor activities. Dr. Mortensen attended Millard high school and was involved in several sports such as football, baseball, and wrestling. He then served a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Alabama. After returning home, he attended Snow College for 1 semester before transferring to SUU for the remainder of his undergraduate education. Dr. Mortensen was then accepted into the WIMU (Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah) regional veterinary program. His first two years of vet school were in Logan, Utah at Utah State before moving to Pullman, Washington to finish vet school at Washington State. "I am very happy to be working here at Dixie Vet Clinic. I am excited to be able to serve the people and animals here in this area."


Dr. Susan McDonald

Veterinarian

Dr. Susan McDonald earned her DVM degree in 1984 from Colorado State University.  She practiced 34 years in northern Utah,  primarily in Salt Lake City.  In April 2018 she retired and she and her husband moved to St George, a long awaited dream of theirs to get out of the snow.  Retirement didn’t last long as she started doing relief work for Dixie Veterinary Clinic in September 2018, and after her husband passed away she joined the clinic as a regular part time clinician.  Her special interests are internal medicine, nutrition, and pain management.  When not working she enjoys gardening, playing piano, and hiking with friends and her dog Zeke.
